Our Wedding

Our Story

Josh and Julie met in Atlanta in the spring of 2025. Their first date was at Krog Street Market, where they shared dumplings from Gus Dumplings. Josh showed up with a dozen red roses, not knowing they were Julie’s favorite, and she could not help but smile. Julie arrived in a lemon sundress, and the two quickly settled into conversation that felt easy from the start. They sat down to eat and ended up talking for hours. In the days that followed, long texts turned into FaceTime dates as they talked about hiking, their shared love of nature, and the things that matter most to them, including faith, family, culture, and where they hoped life was heading. Being together quickly felt easy and natural and a deep friendship developed. On their second date, they wandered through the Botanical Gardens and Piedmont Park, talking about everything from physics to spiritual life. After their walk, they headed to a nearby restaurant for dinner and decided to order two different entrées to split and share, something they still do often. When the waiter told them they were a cute couple, they looked at each other and laughed sheepishly, and afterward they lingered near their cars, not quite ready for the evening to end. Since then, their days have been filled with gardens, wooded trails, shared meals, and the steady happiness of simply doing life together. They love blending their cultures, being creative, cooking together, spending time with family and friends, and growing in their faith side by side. Along the way they have learned to support one another through both the joys and the challenges of life, strengthening a partnership built on friendship, trust, and shared values. What began with roses and dumplings has grown into a love that feels easy, joyful, and deeply rooted, and they are excited to take this next step of lifelong commitment as they celebrate their wedding day surrounded by the people they love most.

About Our Families

While we’re here to celebrate Julie Vash and Joshua Puram joining their lives, we also honor the families who raised, supported, and shaped them — whose love brought us all to this day.

Puram

Joshua Julian was born in Hyderabad in the Indian state of Telangana, where his family has lived for generations. His mother, Audrey Prathibha Puram, worked as a principal and taught English at FIITJEE High School, and his father, Samson Praveen Puram, worked as a government insurance development officer at LIC of India, Hyderabad. Joshua’s elder brother, Jesse Jordan Puram, is a physics professor at Rhodes College in Lima, Ohio. He and his wife, Susan, live there with their six-month-old daughter, Rachel. Joshua’s maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Prabhakar Ravula, began life together in the small town of Siddipet (now a city); Dorothy was a high school principal who taught English and Prabhakar was a director of physical education. His paternal grandmother Victoria Puram also served in education as a high school principal and taught English and his grandfather Prakasham Puram worked as a government gazetted officer in the education department for the city of Hyderabad. The Puram family attends Wesley Church Ramkote in Hyderabad. Joshua attended the Indian Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor’s in Materials Science and Engineering, and Georgia State University, where he received a master’s degree in Data Science and Analytics. He currently works as a Senior Labor Data Analyst at The Home Depot corporate headquarters.

Julie Elizabeth (имя при рождении: Юлия С. Алиева) was born in Moscow, Russia and lived there until she was 2½, when she was adopted by her American parents and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her mother, Joellen (Jody) Vash, taught English and Language Arts at Tri-county Assembly of God School and then at Fairfield Intermediate School. Julie’s father, Paul Vash, worked as a librarian at Xavier University and the Cincinnati Public Library. Julie’s younger sister, Irina—also adopted—was born in Tula, Russia and now lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Kurtis Fields, and their daughter, Peyton, who is four years old. Julie's maternal grandmother, Eileen Wright, was a registered nurse, volunteer and devoted mother of 4. Her grandfather, Weldon Dean Wright, was an accountant and devoted father. Her paternal grandmother, Mary T. Vash was a home-maker, and her grandfather Ernest J. Vash was a truck driver by occupation, but also had a rose-growing business. Mary's parents immigrated to the U.S. from Hungary, Ernest's parents from Slovenia. The Vash family attends Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Chester, Ohio. Julie attended The Ohio State University where she received a bachelors of science degree in Architecture from the college of engineering. She works in architecture and film set design and is a member of the Art Director's Guild of America; local 800.

Can I bring a guest?

We're so excited to celebrate this special day surrounded by our closest family and friends. As we're keeping it intimate, only those formally invited on your wedding invitation can be accommodated. If you have a plus one, it will be noted on your invitation and when you RSVP.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

We kindly ask guests to refrain from taking photos during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present and our pictures can be phone/ camera free.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes before the ceremony start time or reception time depending on your invitation. The service will start promptly on time.

Will there be any cultural traditions we should be aware of?

Our wedding will include elements from American, Indian, and Russian traditions. Guests are welcome to simply relax and enjoy the celebration, and any moments or traditions that require special attention will be clearly announced throughout the event.

Is there a set schedule? If I arrive later in the evening or step away, is that okay?

Some guests may be joining us for only part of the celebration, depending on their invitation. We ask that you arrive at the time given on your invitation/RSVP. If you are arriving or returning while an event is already in progress, we kindly ask that you do so quietly and respectfully, and wait for guidance from our coordinator or ushers before entering or being seated.

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes, parking will be available at the venue upon arrival. Guests are also welcome to use rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft.

Is this a seated dinner style reception?

Yes. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served before the reception, followed by a seated dinner with assigned seating for all guests.

What kind of food will be served at the reception?

Dinner at the reception will include a mix of Indian, Russian and American cuisine, so guests can enjoy a variety of dishes throughout the evening.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Please let us know of any dietary restrictions when you RSVP, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be held in an air-conditioned chapel. The reception will take place in an air-conditioned tent. As the reception will be held on grass without flooring, we recommend considering footwear accordingly, particularly opting for wider heels rather than stilettos. Tux vs. Suit: What's the Difference?

Our wedding will be a formal celebration. Suggested attire for men includes suits, tuxedos, or traditional Indian formalwear such as sherwanis. Suggested attire for women includes long, colorful formal dresses, formal pantsuits, or traditional Indian attire such as sarees or lehengas. Guests are welcome to choose any formal attire they feel comfortable in.We kindly ask guests to avoid wearing all white, ivory, or red.The reception will take place beneath a tent on grass with no flooring, so please choose footwear accordingly. Block heels, wedges, flats, or other grass-friendly shoes are recommended over stilettos.

Where to Eat

Atlanta is easiest to navigate by car, and Uber and Lyft are widely available. Located off US Highway 78, this Decatur hotel features a continental breakfast and indoor pool with a sauna. Guests will be 8 miles from Atlanta city center.
